The dual Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Economics/Master of Public Policy program combines economics coursework with classes at the GW Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration (TSPPPA). Students take up to 12 graduate credits as part of their undergraduate program, thereby completing the master’s degree on an accelerated timeline.

Interested undergraduate economics majors can apply for the MPP during their junior year, once they have completed 75 credit hours. However, students are encouraged to contact the MPP Director of Graduate Studies by the second semester of their sophomore year for more information before applying.

Application Requirements

Admission to the MPP program, and thus the combined degree program, is determined by TSPPPA. The MPP Program Director of Graduate Studies can answer any questions regarding the admissions process. Once students are admitted into the MPP program, they may reach out to the economics undergraduate advisor regarding the appropriate course substitutions.

Course Requirements

Students take 12 graduate credits as part of their undergraduate program. All requirements for both the BA in Economics or BS in Economics as well as the Master of Public Policy degrees must be fulfilled.
