Economics Alumni Panel Discussion: Lessons from the Life and Work of Professor Fred Joutz (Washington, D.C.)

CCAS alumni and faculty are invited to join the Department of Economics for its annual GW Alumni Lecture Series in Economics. The event will feature a panel of GW alumni, moderated by Professor Anthony Yezer. The distinguished panel will share lessons from the life and work of Professor Fred Joutz and provide insights and advice to being successful in economics. A networking reception for alumni and faculty will precede the lecture.

Fred Joutz was a professor in the GW economics department from 1988 until his passing in February of 2022. He served as a PhD advisor and dissertation committee member to many GW PhD students and is remembered by many more students for his macroeconomics, energy modeling, and time series econometrics courses. Fred’s research focused on macroeconomic and energy econometric modeling and forecasting and his work took him around the world to the UAE, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, the Caribbean and the continents of Africa and Asia. Fred’s life took many twists and turns and he left meaningful stories with everyone he touched.
